Learn about Cyndi

Cyndi Otteson is a leadership coach, business consultant, activist, and community organizer committed to helping progressive leaders create the future they envision—both in their personal lives and through their work. As a mother, racial justice advocate, and award-winning marketer, Cyndi is deeply dedicated to dismantling unjust systems and amplifying the voices of our most marginalized and vulnerable community members.

In 2020, Cyndi ran a groundbreaking clean-money campaign as a first-time candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 14. Her platform was centered around getting rid of special interest money and corruption at LA City Hall. As a first-time candidate she placed 2nd, nearly missing a mandated runoff race by 2.6% without taking any special interest money, breaking through barriers and proving that you don’t need dark money to run a viable campaign.

Through her experience of civic engagement, Cyndi has unlocked the empowering formula of channeling her frustration, anger and sadness into action. In her spare time, Cyndi can be found spending time with her family, serving the needs of her unhoused neighbors in North East LA, and inspiring others to run for office.

“Transform yourself first. Keep expanding your horizon, decolonize your mind, and cross borders.”
